When we fell under the spell of the old alpine pasture overlooking the lush valley of Pays-d’Enhaut in the foothills of the Swiss Alps, the garden had almost disappeared. The abandoned chalet had long since been reclaimed by nature. Among the tangled weeds, we could still make out countless terraced plots supported by dry stone walls. Many generations of farmers had brought this magic place to life, growing wheat and vegetables.
With our love of the region and passion for nature, it wasn’t hard for us to imagine reviving this alpine pasture by giving it a second lease on life full of scents and colors, and creating the Jardin des Monts.
